CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organisations and activists working to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world. More than 17,000 members from over 175 countries make up our vibrant and Majority World led alliance.

About the Proposal

The selected consultant will help us build a custom set of avatars aligned with CIVICUS branding to promote civic freedoms to make our content more accessible to our audiences.

The avatar will produce simplified and entertaining explainer videos on our core civic freedoms, research outputs, and campaign calls, making complex issues more engaging and easier to understand. Through these animated characters we aim to enhance storytelling and diversify our communication tools for amplified reach.

The avatars are to be embedded in our array of social media channels, websites, and used in live sessions using the Animaze by Facerig platform.  We anticipate non-humanoid avatars that are widely appealing and inclusive.

While we don’t anticipate overly complicated textures, we expect them to be high quality and able to use the full set of facial expressions and basic hand movements available on the platform.

The design will be guided by CIVICUS brand guidelines.

Deliverables

• Concept Development: Provide a proposal outlining three varied avatars and background assets following the CIVICUS brand guidelines.
• Consultation: Refine the proposal based on feedback from CIVCIUS Communications team.
• 3D Modeling and Animation: Based on approved sketches, build a 3D model of the avatars using tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, or Blender.
• File Preparation: Provide a FBX file set as required by Animaze documentation (textures, animations atomics, and/or - Blendshapes.
• Compilation and Testing: Compile the set as .avatar files using Animaze Editor and ensure seamless integration.
• Setup and Customization: Support the set up and customization using Animaze desktop.
• User Guidelines: Provide guidelines on using and modifying avatars within Animaze.

The consultant

The consultant will bring in lived experience in visual and 3D branding and conceptualization, 3D animation, and a high degree of technical skill required for this project.

While some experience in social change work with civil society, human rights, or development sectors may be useful, this is not a pre-requisite.

• Two-page brief of their approach to the consultancy
• Portfolio of creative conceptualization/innovative technology/3D modelling/animation implemented by the consultant
• Cost proposal (including estimated timeline for completion and any material cost)

The proposals may be submitted by 10th of March 2025 via email only to comms.proposals@civicus.org. We anticipate shortlisting and engagement with select consultants by the 20th of March 2025. The contract will be issued by 31st March.
